The songs on this EP evolved during a period in which I tried my hand at writing more or less straightforward hardrocking songs. In quite a short span of time I came up with approximately 15 ideas, some of them fully-fledged songs, others mere snippets. Although I liked most of them quite a lot, they didn't quite turn out as straightforward as I had hoped. As a further complication, they also didn't translate all that well to a live-setting. It ended up with me shelving them indefinitely. Although this allowed me to return again to all things metal (my preferred music for the guitar), the songs remained unheard of.

Yet, the songs did not stop haunting me...

Whenever I would occasionally listen to the demo recordings, I was surprised to find out how fond I still was of the music. I simply had to share them with others. Before make proper recordings, I sifted through the whole collection of songs. It struck me how most of them had rather bright and striking colours. Nine of these type of songs appeared on the 'It Never Hurts To Help' album. Four songs however were somewhat murkier and gnarlier than the rest. This unique quality (and the unwieldy size of the whole collection) merited a separate release. These tracks (with the exception of the somewhat older 'A Shadow Cast') also stand out as containing a fair amount of newly written, even less straightforward material . Hence this four-song EP.
