This is an album I never thought I would ever release. But here it is. In 2014-15 I played in a rock band, the 2nd Quintessence. Thinking I could perhaps generate some accessible material within this context, I courted my hard-rocking muse, whereupon she gifted me with a whole slew of tracks that operated quite far outside of my usual idioms. Some pieces even had humour to them. Does that even belong in music? Anyway, most of the material was not used with the band and remained on the shelf.

In the course of 2016 I decided to dust off the best tracks for a proper release. I re-recorded the majority of guitar parts, added minor new touches and I rewrote parts of the songs that weren't yet fully formed. All that work resulted in this album.
